FAQ & Troubleshooting

The "Open Platform" button does not respond when logging into your website

We use the official telegram login widget for websites. If you have a browser which blocks cookies or javascript this can cause the widget login process to fail. Fear not - if you are unable or unwilling to enable 3rd Party Cookies or Javascript to run we have provided a 2nd method to login via our OTP link (one time passcode link).

To be provided with a link complete the following steps:

  1. Message your bot in private or click here to message Modr8s official bot direct

  2. Click "Start" button if you have not chatted with the bot before (skip step if you have).

  3. Type /otp and click to send

  4. The bot will reply with a messgae explaining how long the link lasts for and click the button to login

  5. A new browser window will open and you will be logged into the platform

I have a bot already created I want to use with Modr8

Not a problem at all - We often have users who may have a Bot they created previously for other purposes that they want to use with the Modr8 engine. You MUST re-generate a new bot token. If you have used the bot token before on another platform or for your own integrations then Modr8 will not be able to connect correctly to receive updates from telegram.

To generate a new Bot token complete the following steps:

  1. Start a conversation with @BotFather (click here for quick access)

  2. Type /revoke

  3. Select your bot from the list

  4. You will be provided with a new Token. Copy the long token at the bottom of the message and continue registering your bot with Modr8 on our website

I receive an error that a bot already exists on your platform with the token provided

This can happen when our platform detects that the unique bot identifier is already known to Modr8.

As the reasons can be quite broad for this to happen here are some basic checks:

  • Ensure you are logged into the platform with the correct Telegram profile

  • Scroll down the main platform homepage to see if your bot has been registered in the list before

  • Delete your old bot profile if you do not want it anymore

If you are still stuck feel free to send a message in our support community and we can look into the issue and advise better.

My bot has stopped responding to my other systems since registering with Modr8

When working with Telegram bots all systems use the bot token to communicate back and forth with Telegrams systems. If more than one integration is trying to use the same token then there are conditions where only some messages or no messages are received.

We always recommend to use one bot per integration/system to ensure each receive the correct updates. If you notice your bot has stopped responding to Modr8 then you can regenerate a new bot token and replace your token in our platform by completing the following steps.

  1. Start a conversation with @BotFather (click here for quick access)

  2. Type /revoke

  3. Select your bot from the list

  4. You will be provided with a new Token. Copy the long token at the bottom of the message.

  5. Select "Manage" button on your bot profile on our website

  6. Select "Bot Menu" button below your bot profile image

  7. Select "Replace token" and paste in your bot token to the pop-up

  8. Click "OK" and wait a few seconds as we update Telegram and our platform

You should be all set!
